A Day to Air and Brain Out
Cebreiro Cheese dinner.
Day 25, Villafranca del Bierzo to Pedrafita do Cebreiro
It was a great day to air and brain out. The kind of day you need your photos to remember what you walked. Until the end, that is. Low rolling hills with lots of animals, including a horse that sideswiped me. It was followed by a great dinner. A huge hunk of fresh, local cheese with honey named after the area, cebreiro. And beer. See photos with captions below.

First time I’ve seen vapor trails in weeks.
This guy adopted me for about 5 km. There are tag-a-long dogs that know the trail and find humans to accompany. I don’t know if it’s a sense of duty, companionship, or food, although I never fed him. He liked whoever was in front.
Kittens everywhere. This little beauty seemed unperturbed by me and my iPhone.
My pal traded me in for the next front runners, these young men from Korea.
My foot landed and there was a beautiful butterfly. Never moved. And of course there’s the current fashion statement, done right.
Around the corner came four horses. Sandy takes the first wave. . .
. . . and then this guy makes a beeline for me! I didn’t feel threatened, but it was clear his apparent desire for a little affection was going to knock me off the path. This is right before I put out my hand to let pony know, I’m just a little bit smaller than you dude.
The impressive way marker that announces our arrival into the region of Galacia.
We stayed at the municipal hostel in Pedrafita do Cebreiro, with the bunk beds end to end. The sleeping poarch easily held 50.
Boots sitting on racks outside the sleeping area, a common requirement to help keep the dirt down.
